EUROPE’S BEST—AN ENCORE

The 2007 “Best of European Business” competition evaluates companies in the eight strongest European economies. In addition to Germany, France, Great Britain, Italy, Poland, Portugal and Spain this year's competition will include Denmark. The pan- European business champions will be recognized at a Gala as part of the 'European Business Summit' in February 2008.

The categories for the national awards have also changed from the past years of the competition. This year, companies will be evaluated in terms of their growth and the success of their European cross-border merger and acquisitions activities. In addition, all countries will recognize winners in designated national categories, such as outstanding transatlantic business performance in Germany. Winners in the growth category will have combined particularly strong sales growth with strong profitability over a period of five years. Cross-border mergers and acquisitions will be assessed according to the long-term value these mergers have generated and their strategic fit. Two awards will be presented in each category, one to a large and another to a small or medium-sized company.

For its third annual 'Best of European Business' competition, Roland Berger Strategy Consultants is again collaborating with top media and academic partners to ensure objectivity and quality. Well-known CEOs and managers serve as the independent judges in our competition. The international media partner of the competition is CNN. In addition, all national competitions have individual media partners, including Boersen (Denmark), manager magazin (Germany), Enjeux les Echos (France), Il Sole 24 Ore (Italy), Harvard Business Review (Poland), Journal de Negócios (Portugal) and The Times (Great Britain).
