Best of European Business 2013
Focus on Italy
On November 20, 2013, Roland Berger Strategy Consultants presented the "Best of European Business" (BEB) Awards, now in its eighth year.
For their contributions to the European economy, BMW and Fuchs Petrolub received awards in the Large and Midsized Companies categories, respectively. A special award was given to Federico Ghizzoni, CEO of UniCredit as the "Italo-German Manager of the Year". The awarding ceremonies were held at the Embassy of Italy in Berlin.
The "Best of European Business Awards" honors prominent players from the realm of business – both individuals and corporations – that successfully went against the tide and provided examples of sound strategy and excellent management.
"BEB 2013 focuses on the relationship between Germany and Italy. With their closely knit personal, economic and political ties, both countries play a major role in drawing Europe closer together," said Roland Berger's former CEO Burkhard Schwenker.
Following Italy's economic downturn in 2012, the Italian government has undertaken several reform initiatives designed to increase long-term economic growth and competitiveness. Labor market and tax reforms are showing an effect.
