Awarding Ceremony for the "Most Globally Competitive Companies" held in Beijing on October 25 | ||
Chinese companies with outstanding performance in overseas expansion were honored with the "Most Globally Competitive Companies" awards in an exclusive ceremony on the evening of October 25th in Beijing. 20 Chinese companies were recognized for their successful globalization strategies and performance and another 3 companies were praised with special awards. | ||

Nearly 200 invited guests including renowned business leaders and scholars, representatives of winning companies, senior jury members as well as our partners gathered to witness the presentation of the awards and celebrate the outstanding achievements of these Chinese companies. CEOs and senior executives from winning companies received the awards from the hands of distinguished presenting guests include Zhang Yaqin, VP of Microsoft and Chairman of Microsoft China R&D Group, Xu Jian, VP of Volkswagen Group China, Wu Qi, senior partner of Roland Berger, Kang Yan, partner of Roland Berger and Jason Ding, partner of Roland Berger. | ||
Wu Qi, Senior Partner and Vice President of Roland Berger Greater China offered his insights into the future of Chinese companies' globalization in his opening address. Wu Qi and Yang Fu, editor-in-chief of Global Entrepreneur, our media partner for this competition, unveiled a jigsaw "Wall of Winners", on which each pieces represents a winning company. Representatives of each companies brought a piece of jigsaw onto the wall and finally a total of 23 pieces formed the Chinese characters of "Pride of China". | ||

Lenovo Holding Co., Ltd., Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd., Chery Automobile Co., Ltd., China National Offshore Oil Corporation and China Merchants Bank Co., Ltd., etc, are on the list of Top 20 Most Globally Competitive Chinese Companies 2008. Three special awards were presented to those companies with particularly strong performance in markets outside of Chinia - Wanxiang Group (America) was awarded the “Best Chinese Company in America”, Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. (Europe) the “Best Chinese Company in Europe” and Haier Group (Thailand) the “Best Chinese Company in Emerging Market”. | ||

Before the ceremony, there was one-hour panel discussion theming on " Competitiveness of Chinese companies going global". The representatives of winning companies, jury members,famous business leaders and our partners joined this discussion. Kang Yan, one of our partners addressed the key strategies for Chinese companies aiming for overseas expansion and discussed with other panelists on the real situations these companies are facing. Participants include Xu Jian, VP of Volkswagen Group China, Fu Xiangsheng, Deputy GM of China National Chemical Corporation and Mark Rolston, Chief Development Officer of Frog Design, moderated by senior editor of Global Entrepreneur magazine. |
